The locality, placed in the Babadag Depression, is one of the most picturesque towns in Dobrudja. Its charm is special because of the location, at the foot of forest hills and hillocks and nearby Babadag Lake and Sultan Tepe promontory. The summits which guard the town from three sides form Babadag Hills. The highest are Carada (300 m) and Koiun Baba (266 m) and offer the entire town panorama with the Black Sea and Enisala fortress at horizon.

Although the zone is a steppe one, the presence of the forest and Babadag Lake determine the existence of a rich flora and diverse fauna. The forest steppe reaches 200 m altitude and appears as a joining between agricultural lands and steppe meadows and small forest islands constituted by species of oaks, wig tree, elm and maples. The forest vegetation consists of associations specific for Dobrudja, as well as of sub-Mediterranean and Balkan broad-leaved trees forests.

The forests which cover the summits of Babadag shelter some rare plants included in the European Red List such as orchids and some protected species at the national level.

The fauna elements which were identified in these forests are represented by numerous species of insects, reptiles, birds and mammals. There are prey birds such as Common Buzzard, Hobby and Kestrel. The turtle is representative for the reptiles and the deer is representative for the mammals.

The climate is characterized by a year average temperature of 10.7°C, reduced average quantity of precipitations (417.9 mm/year), torrential character of rains, warm summer and not too cold winter.

There is no natural or human factor to produce any major modification to the landscape.
