The gastronomy in the Costa Daurada is an art of quality that knows how to combine in a perfection way the diversity of the Mediterranean cuisine. In addition to its great wine tradition and its six Denominations of Origin, this demarcation also has a varied assortment of Tarragonese dishes which are elaborated with typical products of this land - the ‘suquet’ of fish, the omelette with juice or the calçotada - and very outstanding cakes - white food or ‘menjar blanc’, ‘xató’, ‘pastissets’ and ‘carquinyolis’ - and so on.

Many of the products of this area have been designated like Protected Denomination of Origin (DOP): farming products which represent the geographical denomination of a region or town due to their quality or characteristics, which are exclusively found in the geographical area where they are produced, including the natural and human factors. The production, the elaboration and the transformation of these products has to be carried out in the delimited geographical zone.
