The Costa Daurada receives this name due to the golden colour which is reflected by the sun into the thin sand of its beaches. This coastal area of the Tarragona’s province has a peculiar Mediterranean light and a total of 202 kilometres of beaches with clear and not much deep waters. Nowadays, and following this meaning, the Costa Daurada keeps a supply based on the Sun and Beach tourist model whose accommodation and transport infrastructures are complemented by important tourist centres which provide the tourists with familiar activities, leisure - one of the main attraction focus in the area is the theme park Port Aventura -, sport and night life. If we observe the structure and characteristics of these centres, it is possible to deduce that the big part of this infrastructure was created for attracting tourists who are basically interested in enjoying the coast and its climate appeals.
