As result of the survey findings tangible and intangible assets were sub-divided into six categories based upon the following criteria: critical factors or scope for improvement as to visibility, accessibility, level of conservation and "soundness". 31 usable and properly enhanced assets were identified; 121 usable assets can be further enhanced; 17 of them are not usable assets, 26 usable assets can be further enhanced and present a number of critical points as to their conservation and/or soundness level; 7 assets are partly or fully lost. The analysis highlighted a huge gap between the contents/forms of the current cultural offer and the potentials of the local area from both the quantitative (number of usable assets presented compared to the total number of assets surveyed) and qualitative point of view (typology of the assets enhanced and contents of their presentation). This affects the tourism offer and the destination competitiveness, hindering a proper management and preservation of the assets. The Amalfi Coast can still rely on a large number of neglected, abandoned or forgotten assets: it is not too late to save them but an organic and timely intervention is required.
