21 August 2026 — Save the date: 3–4 December 2026!

On 21 August 2026, as we celebrate the very first International Day of Underwater Cultural Heritage promoted by UNESCO, the European University Centre for Cultural Heritage (CUEBC), Ravello, is delighted to announce something special.

To mark this important day, we are pleased to announce that the Proceedings of the 2024 CUEBC Round Table, “International Cooperation in the Protection of Underwater Archaeological Heritage: State of the Art and Perspectives 30 Years after the First CUEBC Conference (Ravello, 1993)”, will be officially presented in Ravello on 3–4 December 2026.

The presentation will form part of the commemorations marking the 25th anniversary of the 2001 UNESCO Convention on the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage.

The 2024 Round Table brought together leading and internationally recognised experts from Italy, Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Great Britain, Greece, Malta, Montenegro, Portugal, the Sicilian Region and Türkiye, representing academic institutions, governmental authorities, research centres and heritage management bodies.

The European University Centre for Cultural Heritage is pleased to present this new body of work, which seeks not only to honour the legacy of the historic Ravello Conference of 1993, but also to contribute to a forward-looking framework for safeguarding our shared Mediterranean underwater cultural heritage for the benefit of humankind.

We look forward to continuing this work together and to welcoming you, in person or remotely, on 3–4 December 2026, ensuring the broadest possible participation as we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the UNESCO Convention.

We hope this occasion will represent an important milestone in the ongoing and collaborative dialogue on the protection, research and promotion of underwater cultural heritage.
